We had a busy weekend! Friday night, Jeff had a rehearsal dinner to photograph, and then the wedding the next day... all day. Mom and Dad arrived Saturday morning and the kids and I joined them for brunch at the Barking Frog restaurant in Woodinville. I had Dungeness Crab Cake Benedict. It was soooo good! Yummy. From there, we went to the zoo.
Of course the kids had a great time. Paige was funny, you could always tell when she found an animal because she'd yell out what it was. I think her favorites were the Hippopotamus, gorillas, and lions. She seemed to like the Tapirs too. I was impressed by them. I thought they were the size of pigs, but they are much bigger! They are really cute too. They have silly noses. Sort of a cross between a pig and an elephant. Here are some pictures. Cam as a butterfly, Cam and I as caterpillars.. we tried to get Paige to join in, but she was just really annoyed about the whole thing... and then Cam on the hippopotamus sculpture.
We went home exhausted, expecting to go to bed early, but we ended up staying up until 11. Paige was being a princess with her cute jammies and stylish diva glasses. She had a lot of fun posing. Lauren gave her those glasses and this is the first time she really enjoyed wearing them.
Sunday, we got up all excited because the kids were going to see Dora!! Mom, kids and I met Jenn and Collin and drove out to see Dora's pirate adventure. About 10 seconds into it, I knew I was in for a horrible 2 hour nightmare. It was awful! The voices of the characters were screechy, LOUD, echo-y and freakin annoying!! It was truly horrible. It was so loud that I spent a lot of time with my hands over my ears. The characters also weren't really right. They didn't act the same as on the show and it was terribly over-acted. I bet the local grade school could have done better. On a positive note, the kids thought it was amazing! Cam danced and danced his heart out. He yelled out the answers to Dora's questions, waved his Dora pirate flag and watched the entire thing. That's what's really important :) Paige also enjoyed it, but fell asleep about halfway through. Jenn bought the kids Dora light up stick things that they love. They played with those all afternoon. I'm never going to that show again, but at least Cameron had a wonderful time.
I got Cam some new shoes to take to Paris and a new pair of overalls. He wouldn't take the overalls off so I guess he likes them.
Our train tickets, reservations, car vouchers, museum passes and subway passes finally all arrived. It's so much fun to fondle all of the tickets and vouchers. It's starting to feel real. Mom is very excited to see a lot of the masterpieces at the museums. She has a lot to teach Cammy about art. I think they are planning to get sketch pads and set up outside and draw together. We are going to Euro Disney, castles and wineries in the Loire Valley too. Less than a month away. Woo Hoo!!
