Paige draws cute pictures

Paige drew this really cute picture tonight. She asked me to write her name for her on a piece of paper and then a few minutes later she showed me this. She said it was a crab and she said she wrote her name at the top. It's totally cute! Then she added a nose. She said "The crab needs a nose, but he doesn't need a nose, but I added a nose."

Funny girl!

Cam wants you to know that he can write his name too :)

Paige is an artiste

Paige drew this picture of each us and told her daddy who was who so he could label them. It's hanging on our fridge. I love that she draws these faces everywhere! She goes through my crossword puzzle books and draws smileys everywhere she can and I find them later when I get to a new puzzle. It never fails to put a smile on my face.

Cam is adorable!

Here are some adorable Cam moments:

Cam searching for the perfect rock:

We asked Cam what he was doing and he replied "I am an oval!":

And here, Cam is Oscar the Grouch (Hence, the crabby look in photo two.):

I love that kid!!

Paige is so cute!

Why do my pictures disappear?

I see several pictures from Chile are now MIA. Totally weird. I'll fix it later - the pictures are on a different computer. If you didn't see them before they disappeared, come back again :)

More Easter photos

On Easter, while Cam was outside looking for hidden eggs, Paige was inside fast asleep.

Grandma and Great Grandma came over and the kids got these great new outfits! They both insisted on wearing them that afternoon and wanted me to take their pictures in them for the blog so everyone could see.

Cam's frog prince

Shortly after we moved to this new house, Cam came up to me and said he had found a frog outside. I didn't believe him at first, but he insisted, so I grabbed my camera and went looking. Sure enough, there it was! He was bright green and looked like he belonged in a rain forest rather than my own back yard. I haven't seen any frogs like that since that day, but the I can hear them at night.

** I went and looked up frogs in WA. Looks like it was a Pacific Treefrog which is funny because the site also says they live on the ground. Why not a Groundfrog? Too close to Groundhog?
See for yourself and listen to a treefrog by clicking here.

Choclo and the falls

I realized I'm posting about our trip to Chile in order, but you'll be reading them in reverse. Doesn't really matter.

On our way South, we stopped at a little place right beside I-5 (which really goes clear down into Chile!) The waiter was very sweet and said we really had to try their Pastel de Choclo because it was the National Food of Chile (Chile has a lot of National things) and we couldn't visit Chile without trying Choclo. Apparently, Choclo is their own word for corn. The top was quite good and sweet and hot, but as you dug in, things went a bit downhill. There's a chicken bone sticking out of my dish. I ate some of the chicken, but it was kind of cold which was weird since the rest of the dish was hot. The deeper I dug, the weirder the food got and I finally just stopped eating it. I got a bit sick afterwards, but nothing too bad. It wouldn't be a fine diner on the side of I-5 if you didn't get sick! :)

We drove South past Chillan to these falls. They were beautiful!! I later found out that there were more falls there that we missed, but Jeff and I drove back up to Santiago that night because our flight was the next day.
We quickly drove to Argentina and turned around and came back. There's nothing quick about crossing the borders though. Going into Argentina was harder than returning to Chile. There were probably 5 different check points getting into Argentina. The funniest though, was when were at one of them and they made us get out of the car and they went through all of our stuff. When they decided we were okay, they gave us a stamped piece of paper and said we would need it at the next check point. We all piled back in to the car and drove about 8 feet before a guard stepped out of the same little shack the other guards were in and told us to stop. Turns out, he was the next check point. Not sure why that couldn't have been combined into one, but thankfully it was the last. We had so many stamps on our papers that I had to take a picture since they take the paper away from you when you return to Chile. The pictures are washed out because I was the photographer from the backseat of the car. All of these were from our trip back into Chile. The Chilean guards were much more personable and fun to talk with!

Aconcagua is very high

Aconcagua is the tallest mountain outside of the Himalayas. It is in Argentina, near the Chilean border in the Andes Mountains. We were there last November with friends Paul and Susie Hamidi who was there to photograph a wedding. Jeff was second shooting, but I was just tagging along because I love to travel. It wasn't nearly as cold as I had expected, but I guess it was summer in Chile. In these photos, we are still in Chile, North of Santiago, but we drove into Argentina shortly after. Aconcagua is the rounded top farthest away in the picture. It's hard to understand how high it is, but we were short of breath just from walking around the park.

Vegas and Brittany

We were in Vegas a couple of weeks ago for the WPPI conference. We stayed in the Paris Hotel and had lots of fun checking out all the crazy stuff there. The last night we were there, I got to meet Brittany. She was in Jeff's ad in Grace Ormonde with her boyfriend, Gavin. Jeff had told me how wonderful she is, but I didn't understand until I met her. She is amazing! So sweet, kind, Christian.. and she likes my kids! She must be super fabulous :) The kids took to her immediately! Here are pictures of them being completely goofy in our hotel room about 2 minutes after the kids met her. At one point, Paige wasn't getting Brittany's attention like she wanted so she laid down and pouted, but they made up (last two pictures). Once it was dark out, we went out and saw the volcano erupt at The Mirage and then walked to the Pirate Ship show at Treasure Island. Paige fell asleep on the way, but Cam had a great time. Paige did wake up just in time to see the volcano erupt and then fell back asleep. The Pirate Ship show was canceled because of the wind, so we headed back and headed back to the Paris hotel where we had dinner (Brittany tried raw fish! UGH!) and then Cam fell asleep in the chair at the table. Good fun. :)

Happy Easter

Christ is risen!

and to celebrate with Grandma and Great Grandma, we had brunch on the top (75th) floor of the Columbia Tower. The view is great! The picture I'll put in here is from the bathroom. Each stall is it's own little room with it's own sink and a wonderful view. We had shrimp, eggs benedict, filet mignon, bananas foster (oh yum!), fruit, cheese, crab cakes... on and on. It was wonderful. On the way home, Paige fell asleep in the car, but we still had an egg hunt for Cam. When Paige woke up, it was raining, so we'll have to have a hunt for her. Here are pictures from the day:
